Seeking Fall Foliage Road Trip: Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway

Take I-85 to Scenic Highway 11 (Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway), known for its countless waterfalls, charming mountain towns, scenic overlooks and hidden gems worth pulling over for, along with epic adventures. This is a stunning drive any time of year, but especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing from shades of green to yellow, orange, and amber-red palettes. Start with the picturesque Campbells Covered Bridge(link is external), and continue down towards Table Rock State Park. Stop by at Table Rock Tea Company in Pumpkintown and take a tour of the only tea company in the U.S. raising mountain-grown tea. Stay overnight at their campsite with a gorgeous view of the iconic table rock, or continue along to the Stumphouse Tunnel & Issaqueena Falls(link is external) to see what remains of an 1850s attempt to link the port of Charleston to the cities of the Midwest by rail. A short easy walking trail leads you to Issaqueena Falls, a beautiful 100 ft waterfall. Stay at the lush Hotel Domestique(link is external), or if you’re daring, a luxurious treehouse(link is external) in the woods.
