2023 TSUSA Ambassadors

Adventure World – Australia

Adventure World’s Kristy Prince created 9 touring itineraries focusing on our key messages covering 10 of the southern states. The range of product encourages a long length of stay with an average trip length of 13 days. Adventure World also partnered with Travel South USA on our “Choose you Own Southern Adventure’ campaign with Travelex.

This consumer campaign was viewed 8 million times in Australian/New Zealand, representing 26% of the combined population. Adventure World was our call to action and prize partner for this 3-month campaign.

America as You Like It – United Kingdom

America as You Like It has supported Travel South since its inception, regularly attending to ensure they are in the “know” to present new itineraries to their clients. The conversations conducted during scheduled meetings and over the various networking events of the show give them an edge to cater to their clients who expect a truly tailormade specialist service.

Maggi and Cath are both professionally and personally invested in the region, using their personal time in destinations to maximise their knowledge and speak with authority about the uniqueness and warmth that their clients will experience when they visit.

American Tours International (ATI) is a long-time partner with destinations across the South, providing escorted air tours, motor-coach tours, and Drive America tours. As a B2B seller, they package and sell accommodations, attractions, and experiences to the leading overseas operators and North American travel specialists.

Top overseas markets include the UK, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Scandinavia. The cooperative marketing campaigns with ATI Drive America continue to drive incremental room nights and revenue to the South.  We appreciate the primary focus ATI places on the South and look forward to continuing our mutually beneficial relationship for many years.

AmeriGo has been a well-known French B2B and North America specialist Tour-Operator for 20 years, working with major travel agencies networks throughout France. Their escorted tours department is offering two Southern itineraries in 2023 and 2024 and their FIT department is handling a 100% tailor-made trips with a total of 6 dedicated agents.

Some of them, especially Nathalie & Martin, have a special bond with the Southern States and share their passion with the team on a daily basis. Their DNA is to enhance trip suggestions by adding authentic accommodation options and must-do activities to make clients’ trip to the South a special and unforgettable experience. This tour operator is known for its unique, specialized service in tailor-made trips for FITs and groups. Joker is a Belgian tour operator with eight integrated travel agencies. By focusing on smart marketing campaigns and an annual USA travel fair in Mechelen, Joker is top of mind for travelers looking for a group or an individual road trip for two, with friends or family in the United States. Konrad Travel describes itself as “specialist of the American continent”, from Alaska to Patagonia.

During the years the tour operator always gave great importance to the Southern states of the USA, keeping its catalog full of options to discover Travel South destinations.

Ilaria, already a great expert of the history, culture and offer of the South, has always been a great ambassador and recently joined Konrad to develop even more Southern itineraries, both for self-drive and escorted tours.

During the last months of cooperation, she promoted specific tours focused on music, history, gastronomy and so much more and included Travel South in various activities giving us opportunities to showcase the Travel South destinations offer to many agents and travel consultants.

Marco Vasco – France

Launched in 2008, MARCO VASCO was the first ever French online Tour Operator working as a B2C and FIT-oriented company. MARCO VASCO rapidly became a 200-employee business, purchased in 2017 by Le Groupe Figaro (France’s leading press group). Based in Paris, additional travel Agencies were opened in Lyon, followed by the cities of Rennes and Marseille.

NAAR Tour Operator – Italy

NAAR has always been a prestigious and important partner for the USA and for the South. Erica is promoting various itineraries touching the Southern states, with great expertise and passion. During the last year, they provided support to Travel South for the great LATITUDES media partnership, to showcase the beauty of nature to be found at different National Parks.

They developed dedicated itineraries and promoted them through their B2B and B2C channels, including the organization of 3 events around Italy where travel agents were trained about the destinations and had the opportunity to listen to firsthand stories and experiences lived in the nature, narrated by the marvelous journalist and photographer Lucio Rossi.

NATS is a privately owned specialist tour operator that has been operating for over 50 years. The team is recognised throughout the UK for their knowledge and dedication to providing itineraries that inspire and generate interest in visitation to 2nd  and 3rd tier destinations.

The management understands the importance of destination knowledge when selling and regularly opens their doors to allow training to their dedicated sales teams. NATS provides access to their clients, the in-house sales and product team and their vast network of travel agents throughout the UK.

Since launching their dedicated Purely Southern website the team has seen regular and sustained growth into the Southern States. The web site offers over 100 flexible itineraries, which give an in depth and detailed view of the many and varied experiences available in the region.

Andrew Bird, Director/Owner has been one of the most consistent attendees and advocate of Travel South, acknowledging the huge value in spending dedicated time with those that live in the region whilst attending the show and associated fams. Swanson’s – Sweden

Swanson’s has consistently maintained an impressive selection of products from the Southern region, with a primary focus on music cities and themes. Over the years we have collaborated with Tommy and team to significantly expand both the quantity and range of Southern products.

This combined effort has resulted in an enriched product portfolio, now encompassing destinations in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, the Carolinas, and West Virginia. Their offering has expanded to encompass a total of 19 brochure pages and 22 destination pages on their website. Swanson’s provides a variety of travel options, including self-drive, RV adventures, motorcycle excursions, train journeys, and ranch stays. Additionally, they offer escorted tours with knowledgeable guides who all speak Swedish. Swanson’s prides themselves on being genuine USA specialists, particularly in the Southern States, and are passionate enthusiasts of all the unique experiences this region has to offer.

Travel Associates

Travel Associates, ‘One of a Kind’ America’s magazine heavily featured Travel South inspiration content encouraging their luxury clients to journey through the South. Launched on March 23 and running for 6 weeks, the content was backed up by bespoke products and as a direct inspiration from Ruth Bollock attending Travel South International Showcase 2022.

US Travel – Netherlands

UStravel.nl is a Dutch, web-based tour operator, selling the USA and Canada for more than 25 years. On their website www.ustravel.nl, they offer fly-drives, accommodations, rental cars, RV rental, flights, homes, attractions/excursions, and some escorted tours. Clients are the individual traveler, as well as around 600 travel agencies in the Netherlands and Germany.

Travel agents can make their own quotes through our travel agent booking tool EAZI, where they can find live availability for flights, rental cars, accommodations, and excursions. We specialize in tailormade itineraries. We do organize some group travel, but only on request for individual groups. As UStravel.nl, we also specialize in accessible travel for individuals with mobility issues.

One of the reasons we suggest US Travel is that they are always busy with innovation. They have a very good booking system, they have very experienced personnel. José is the product manager and owner of the company together with Wolfgang Hendrix.

They also are creative in their promotion, and they have a very large group of repeating customers.

USA Rejser – Denmark

Small but mighty is how we would describe our 2023 ambassador honoree from the land of the world’s happiest people – Denmark. USA Rejser is a US specialist tour operator based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and founded in 1979 as part of Norsk Rejsebureau which was originally set up in 1909.

USA Rejser offers all types of travel to the US, from beaches to mountains and everything in between, whether by car, motorcycle, motorhome or rail. USA Rejser has really embraced Travel South since the inception of the Nordic GPP and is constantly developing new southern product and enhancing existing tours. There are dedicated pages that cover coastal Georgia and the Carolinas, the music icons of Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans as well as buzzing Atlanta and Charlotte. Their 22-day ‘Country Music, History and Plantations’ tour runs from New Orleans and takes in Memphis, Nashville, Gt Smoky Mtns National Park, the Appalachians, Georgia and Carolina Coast and Atlanta. Christian Walker Willumsen is attending his second Travel South Showcase and is a great example of operators using post show fams to develop product.

Mark Vaughan, Ambassador Emeritus

The success of a few international operators attending what is now called Domestic Showcase in 2011 proved to be the catalyst for TSUSA and the city DMO coalition of Rhythms of the South – Atlanta, Nashville & New Orleans to create Travel South USA International Showcase,  Now in its’ 11th year – the credit for navigating the discussions and creating a bond of mutual respect and support and setting high standard goes to one person – Atlanta CVB’s Mark Vaughan, Executive VP & Chief Sales Officer.

It is not easy when fifteen senior tourism executives from state tourism offices and city DMOs come to the table to negotiate. Still, with Mark’s guidance, we came away with a plan that has stood the test of time – a worldwide pandemic. After nearly four decades in the industry, Mark is retiring to his lake house to watch his beloved University of Kentucky sports teams.

We will return to Atlanta next year for the 3rd time in 2024 in the brand-new Signa Hotel, which will open in January 2024. It is a Hilton brand, the first of its kind and will showcase the city’s new tourist and sports experiences.

Mark will always have a special spot at our family table and we would like to award you this trophy, Travel South Ambassador Emeritus. Thank you, Mark; Travel South International Showcase would have been wishful thinking without you. On behalf of the entire tourism industry, thank you for all you have done and we wish you the very best.
