8 Unique Reasons to Rest Your Head in Georgia

We’ve all seen enough of the same four walls lately, leaving many of us begging for a change of scenery. If you’ve been dreaming of getting away, these eight places in Georgia deliver big.

Georgia State Park Lodging
Burnham House Historic Home, General Coffee State Park, Nicholls
The elegantly decorated three-bedroom Burnham House is a romantic country retreat inside General Coffee State Park. Sip coffee in a rocking chair on the porch, say hello to the park’s farm animals, and stroll scenic nature trails. In the evening, soak in the clawfoot tub or cozy up to a warm fire.

Historic Barrel Cabins, Unicoi State Park, Helen
For a truly unique experience, sleep in cabins made from retired wine barrels at Unicoi State Park in Helen. Remarkable in nearly every way, the one- or two-bedroom cabins come with full kitchens, living areas, and porches overlooking the grounds, and are located near Unicoi Lake with easy access to trails.

Glamping
Georgia Glamping at Lake Lanier, Cumming
Georgia Glamping’s stylish tents can accommodate up to six people. Three tents and a vintage trailer are located at Shady Grove Campground, and have full-sized beds, linens, lighting, coffee makers, and mini fridges. Relax outside around the fire pit or in a hammock, or rent kayaks, paddleboards, or bikes.

Shangri-Little Tiny House, Rising Fawn
Located near Cloudland Canyon, this tiny house called Shangri-Little was featured on “Tiny House Nation.” Set on a cliff overlooking Lookout Mountain, the three-story, light-filled interior has all the comforts of home, and the exterior features a rooftop yoga deck, fire pit, and hot tub.

Inns
The Farmhouse Inn, Madison
The Farmhouse Inn is a little over an hour’s drive east from Atlanta and minutes from Lake Oconee. With lodging for two in the Red Barn loft or up to 12 in the Farmhouse, groups of all sizes will love this peaceful country retreat in charming historic Madison.

The Inn at Serenbe, Chattahoochee Hills
The Inn at Serenbe is nestled in the rolling countryside on the edge of Atlanta, just minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The luxurious accommodations – perfect for a romantic getaway, family vacation, or girls’ weekend – are set on a 36-acre farm, and all stays include afternoon tea, evening sweets, and a full country breakfast.

Lodges
Great Wolf Lodge, LaGrange
North America’s largest family of indoor water park resorts from Atlanta, this resort features kid-friendly activities, dining options, and access to the 93,000-square-foot water park’s pools and slides kept warm at 84-degrees year-round.

Reynolds Mansion, Sapelo Island
Located on a small barrier island along Georgia’s Colonial Coast, the lovely Reynolds Mansion features marble sculptures, an ornately decorated Circus Room, murals by Athos Menaboni, a bowling lane, billiards, library and more. Swimming, fishing, hiking, and birding on miles of unspoiled beach offer endless possibilities for relaxation and reflection.
