Bright lights, Southern charm

Canton Square – Canton, Mississippi

Looking for some unique places to help you get into the spirit of the season? The lights are strung and the halls are decked for holiday events in these quaint Mississippi towns:

50 Nights of Lights | Cleveland
More than 100,000 lights will transform Cleveland into a winter wonderland this holiday season. Make plans to visit the charming Delta town from Nov. 14 until Dec. 31 for 50 Nights of Lights, a breathtaking display of lights that can be enjoyed on a walk or from the comfort of your vehicle. Also, be sure to visit some of Cleveland’s quaint shops, local restaurants and fascinating museums during your visit.

Christmas on the Square | Oxford
Straight out of a Hallmark movie, the Oxford square always decks the halls for the holiday season. Visitors can stroll the sidewalks and enjoy the atmosphere, immersed in lights and holiday music, as they visit local gift shops, vintage stores and boutiques for unique gifts for friends and family. Beginning Nov. 17th, the Square will sparkle with holiday decorations, twinkling lights and more, officially kicking off the holiday season for this picturesque college town.

City of Lights | Canton
More than 200,000 twinkling white lights will sparkle and light up Canton’s Historic Courthouse Square during this family favorite holiday tradition. Amongst the breathtaking lights will be an interactive Christmas Village full of family-friendly activities, including carousel and carriage rides and local, quaint shops where visitors are sure to find that special gift for a loved one. Festival hours will be 5-9 p.m. Nov. 27-29 and Dec. 4-23.

Christmas in the Park | Tylertown
The largest community event of its kind in the area, Tylertown’s Christmas in the Park is a colorful Christmas display of millions of lights staged at Holmes Water Park. More than 25,000 visitors travel to this quaint Mississippi town every year to enjoy the festivities. Take a walking tour on Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 6-9:30 p.m., and enjoy a driving tour from Thursday, Nov. 26, through Thursday, Dec. 31, from 6-8:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Christmas in Natchez | Natchez
The charming river city of Natchez is well-known for its true Southern hospitality, delectable cuisine and historic homes. Natchez also is well-known for its annual Christmas in Natchez, which takes place throughout the holiday season and features dozens of holiday-themed events, such as “A Candlelight Christmas at Choctaw Hall,” “Christmas at Sunnyside,” and more for the entire family. This year’s festivities kick off on Nov. 28 and last until Dec. 31, so there is plenty of time to celebrate the season in Natchez.

Southern Lights | Southaven
From Nov. 26 to until Dec. 30, beginning at 5:30 every evening, the North Mississippi city of Southaven hosts Southern Lights, a drive-through holiday event featuring 500,000 twinkling lights placed throughout the city’s 116-acre Central Park. Visitors can tune into five FM stations playing Christmas music as they take in the scenery. Proceeds benefit local charities.
