Dig for diamonds and keep what you find, only in Arkansas
One of the most unique spots to visit in Arkansas is Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro. This state park is on the to-visit list for many as it is the only place in North America where you can dig for diamonds and other gemstones and keep your finds. Visitors to the park search a 37-acre plowed field for not only diamonds but rocks, minerals, and gemstones too. You can bring your own equipment to search with or rent tools from the park. Notable diamonds found here include the 40.23-carat Uncle Sam, which holds claim to being the largest diamond ever found in the U.S. You can get a quick introduction to this unique destination via the displays and exhibits that detail the site’s history and geology at the park’s visitor center.
The state’s capital city, Little Rock, is home to the only purse museum in the nation. In fact, the only other purse museums in the world are in Amsterdam and Seoul. The Esse Purse Museum showcases the purse’s evolving function and design and exhibits are arranged by decade in a beautiful and modern space. These exhibits showcase not only purses but the contents of what was inside them so visitors can get a look into what was happening in the lives of women in each era.
