The 75th annual Rhododendron Festival June 19-20, 2021 at Roan Mountain features handmade crafts, food, traditional music and old-time folkway demonstrations. Wildflowers and wildlife pepper the foothills. The Appalachian Trail and famous Rhododendron Gardens can be accessed at Carver’s Gap, an 8-mile drive from the park. There are 30 cabins, as well as RV and tent camping spots.
