Tour Day: Sunday, November 30, 2025
Tour Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00pm
Tour Leader: Visit KC

Embark on a captivating journey through Kansas City’s rich history with our Historic Treasures Tour. This curated experience highlights the city’s pivotal moments and landmarks, offering a window into its storied past.

  1. Arabia Steamboat Museum

Begin your adventure at the Arabia Steamboat Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of pre-Civil War artifacts. Discover the story of the Arabia, a steamboat that sank in the Missouri River in 1856, and explore the meticulously preserved cargo that offers a unique snapshot of 19th-century frontier life.

  1. National World War I Museum and Memorial

Next, visit the National World War I Museum and Memorial, the nation’s official museum dedicated to World War I. Walk across the iconic glass bridge above a field of 9,000 red poppies, each representing 1,000 combatant deaths, and immerse yourself in comprehensive exhibits that detail the global impact of the Great War.

  1. Union Station Kansas City

Drive by Union Station – Opened in 1914, Union Station is one of the nation’s most beautiful and historic train stations. This Beaux-Arts masterpiece once welcomed over 10,000 passengers daily and played a key role in troop movements during both World Wars. It was also the site of the infamous 1933 Union Station Massacre.

Painstakingly restored in the late 1990s, today the station is a vibrant cultural hub featuring Science City, a planetarium, theaters, dining, and world-class exhibitions. With its 95-foot ceilings, grand chandeliers, and iconic clock, Union Station stands as a proud symbol of Kansas City’s past and present.

This tour offers a comprehensive look at Kansas City’s historical milestones, providing insights into its evolution from a frontier town to a modern metropolis.
