Lodging Mississippi Style – No camouflage required

In Mississippi, we are passionate about blending the old with the new. The past with the present. The rustic with the elegant. And, especially in the fall, the indoors with the outdoors.

Fall in Mississippi features crisp, cool mornings that lead to sun-warmed afternoons, green fields and towering pines with splashes of yellow, orange and red as far as the eye can see and the sounds of wildlife in full force – all enjoyed through open windows, screen doors and wide porches. While we enjoy fall’s respite from the summer heat, another season also is beginning – hunting season. Hunting in the Deep South is a tradition that brings together family and friends from the first days of fall to the end of winter. And, if you do it right at one of the many beautiful lodges across our state that boast modern amenities with rustic charm both inside and out, it offers a little something for everyone.

While the outdoorsmen get an early start and enjoy hunting Mississippi’s bounty of white-tailed deer, turkey, duck, quail and dove in the morning dew, take advantage of some of the other unique attributes these lodges offer.

If you prefer to be indoors, relax by a gentle fire or curl up with a good book while enjoying the beautiful views at Prairie Wildlife(link is external), a conservation-driven sporting estate located in the heart of the Black Prairie where hundreds of acres of native grasslands have been restored.

Nature-lovers can savor peaceful strolls through acres of land nestled between the banks of Lake Washington and Yazoo National Wildlife Refuge and lake views from the veranda while visiting Esparanza Outdoors at Linden Plantation(link is external).

Feel the worries and stress of daily life melt away and recharge as you enjoy a day with one of Long Leaf Plantation’s(link is external) professional massage therapists, followed by some fresh air and iced tea on the porch in an oversized rocking chair overlooking this 4,000 acre retreat.

Fitch Farms at historic Galena Plantation(link is external) is a paradise for food lovers looking for the full farm-to-table experience featuring family recipes lovingly prepared by professional chefs with ingredients raised, grown and harvested right on the farm.

Whether you prefer cozying up indoors, relaxing on the porch or enjoying nature’s bounty, these Mississippi lodges offer extraordinary fall experiences. Come be our guest for an experience you won’t soon forget!
