Lux Weekend Away in the Heart of Horse Country

Just two and a half hours from Atlanta, 30 minutes past Augusta, you will find the town of Aiken(link is external), the heart of South Carolina’s Thoroughbred Country. Although this charming small town is primarily known for hosting equestrian events year-round, Aiken is more than just horses – it’s a place where you can enjoy a weekend away, safely. Stay the weekend at The Willcox(link is external) or the Carriage House Inn(link is external). Both offer luxury accommodations like suites and private cottages that are spread apart, but still walking distance to downtown and nearby attractions. Spend an afternoon strolling through the elegant Oak Alley at Hopelands Gardens(link is external), or take a horseback riding tour through Hitchcock Woods(link is external), one of America’s largest urban forests (two times the size of New York’s Central Park). Experience the culinary scene downtown in The Alley, a pedestrian-only plaza, where there’s something for every palate; from laid-back breweries like Aiken Brewing Company(link is external), to white-tablecloth fine-dining establishments like Malia’s(link is external) (and plenty of outdoor seating).
